SUMMARY:Walking tour Gemene en Loweiden van Assebroek - the Oldest Common in Flanders
DESCRIPTION:Avansa Brugge organises a guided walk through the Gemene en Loweiden van Assebroek\, a unique piece of Flanders’ heritage. \n\n\n\nCommon land\, communal meadows\, the commons and de gemeynte refer to historical forms of collective land management and grassroots governance. These systems played an important role in shaping the landscape and left a legacy that remains visible today. \n\n\n\nDuring the walk\, Professor Tine De Moor and ‘headman’ Marc Vandepitte will discuss the history of the area and how its landscape has changed over the centuries under the influence of human activity and the traditional system of common land. \n\n\n\nThe Gemene en Loweiden van Assebroek continues to function as a commons today\, managed and cared for collectively by local citizens. \n\n\n\nThe walk concludes with an informal discussion and a drink on the terrace of Ryckevelde Castle. \n\n\n\nThe guided walking tour is held in Dutch \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister for the walk

SUMMARY:Building Resilience Together: Cooperatives as Drivers of Transition | Panel talk with Tine De Moor
DESCRIPTION:Avansa Regio Gent is organising a conversation about the role cooperatives can play in building a more resilient and sustainable society. The event brings together different perspectives on how cooperation can help address some of the major challenges of our time. \n\n\n\nIn times of uncertainty\, cooperatives prove their true value. By working together\, sharing risks and putting people at the heart of their model\, they can create resilience in times of crisis. But is that enough to tackle the major challenges of our century? Can cooperatives drive a sustainable transition towards an economy that is more local\, human and fair? And could this ultimately also make us geopolitically stronger? \n\n\n\n Professor Tine De Moor will join Dirk Holemans and Koen Schoors for a panel discussion exploring these questions and the potential of cooperation as a force for change. \n\n\n\nThis event is part of the exhibition “Ghent\, Capital of Cooperative Dreams.” \n\n\n\nThis event will be held in Dutch. \n\n\n\nPrice: €8 standard price€4 social price \n\n\n\n\nMore information and registration
