SUMMARY:LECTURE BY TINE DE MOOR ON THE SPREAD OF COLLECTIVE INSTITUTIONS IN EUROPE
DESCRIPTION:As part of the MOTI seminar series at Grenoble École de Management\, professor Tine De Moor will give a lecture on the historical development and geographical spread of institutions for collective action in Europe\, focusing on the example of guilds. \n\n\n\nTine DE MOOR will present: “Contagious Institutions? A longitudinal study of institutional spillover of European guilds”. \n\n\n\nFrom the 12th to the 19th century\, guilds became a dominant organizational form across Europe. While their emergence is often linked to urbanization and economic growth\, this lecture explores how spatial and temporal dynamics also shaped their diffusion. Using a large-scale longitudinal dataset and statistical modelling\, the study shows how institutional models like guilds spread between regions over time — offering insights into the mechanisms of institutional spillover and adaptation. \n\n\n\nLocation: Room F601\, Grenoble École de Management \n\n\n\nJoin online: https://grenoble-em.zoom.us/my/semardf601
