10EMESConf – Presentation reframing heterogeneity as a condition

During the 10th EMES International Research Conference on Social Enterprise, Shreya Paudel gave a presentation, titled: ‘Beyond the Blueprint: Rethinking Heterogeneity in the Commons’ (by Shreya Paudel and Tine De Moor).

Shreya presented a paper she works on which reframes heterogeneity from a variable to  condition. The paper synthesizes three decades of fragmented debates and moves from a static to a dynamic understanding of heterogeneity. It reframes heterogeneity as a relational-temporal institutional condition. She proposes shifting attention beyond institutional design to the relational aspects of collective governance and shifting attention from static models to dynamic models where we look at continuity, change and disruptions.

The presentation was part of the session ‘Communal SE 4: Commons and Solidarity on 6 November 2025. During the EMES conference week, several team members of the SEICA research group will present their work. View the full program.
