SEICA Knowledge Broker to strengthen data collection of citizen collectives

Research group Social Enterprises & Institutions for Collective Action welcomes Janna Vink as knowledge broker. She will identify relevant information for the movement of citizen collectives and to develop data structures that support organizations in data collection and management. This is made possible by an additional grant from the NWO Impact Explorer for the UNICA project.

The UNICA project is led by Professor Tine De Moor. Previous research within this project has shown that bottom-up organizations often lack the necessary capacity and expertise to collect, classify, and analyze data in a structured manner. This results in incomplete and less useful overviews of the development of citizen collectives, which also hampers collaboration with researchers.

To improve data collection by citizen collectives, the NWO Impact Explorer has awarded additional funding, allowing Janna Vink to start as a knowledge broker. By collecting better data on the development of citizen collectives across various sectors, umbrella organizations and other stakeholders can better understand this movement, improve their practices, deploy resources more efficiently, and formulate targeted policies. Additionally, the data collection strategy will enable future researchers to compare developments across different sectors over time.
