Biography
Janna holds a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences from the University of Amsterdam, and two master’s degrees. First, she obtained a master’s in Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology with a specialization in Visual Ethnography from Leiden University and second, a master’s in European Studies on Science, Society, and Technology, with a specialization in Science and Public Policy from Maastricht University. In her previous role at science-art gallery Transnatural, she worked on their cultural program. Together with artists, scientists, and policymakers, she organized interventions in the city of Amsterdam to make the city more nature inclusive.
During her studies and professional work, she explored how knowledge is created, shared, and trusted, and how research can reach beyond the academic bubble to connect with the wide world. As part of the SEICA research group, she supports citizen collectives in gathering and managing their data in a way that is fair, accessible, and valuable for both the collectives and the research community.
