Participatory archiving

Participatory archiving closes the contemporary endpoint gap. Historical ICAs often left formal regulations in public or organisational archives, while contemporary collectives increasingly store rules and institutional memory in websites, shared drives, minutes, email, and other ephemeral digital environments. Through the (established) CollectieveKracht.eu-platform (De Moor et al., 2025), several dozen contemporary ICAs will be supported in identifying, contextualising and preserving successive governance documents and organisational histories, building on sights acquired within the SEICA-team on participatory archiving (De Herde & De Moor 2025; Vink et al., 2026). The preparatory work carried out in this area is set out in the document.
